Design Fictions / Write it out loud

This project is the exploration of unsaid comments that are kept in our heads for fear of rejection or the reaction it could cause. Using the anonymity of street art, these thoughts ring true to whomever has felt them at some point in their lives, creating an internal dialog between two strangers. Thoughts are delivered in a way that is not necessarily harmful but socially incorrect, masking the true personality of he or she who keeps their thoughts unsaid. This project shows graffiti art as a means of expression, a sort of catharsis that allows for honesty via the very short stories shared on the tiles.

Street art has been a form of expression for many artists that want to communicate ideas to the public regardless of the audience. It fills the need of human beings to relate to their environment and to others in the hopes that their voices are heard, or just to leave a mark in the world. Conceptually, Lego tiles encourage people to construct their own world and therefore are the perfect metaphor for expression. Like when children sign their toys as an act of possession, these tiles are a signature of my work.
